IV Nurse Rounds
GET IT NOW
Description and Features:
Beta testing to elicit feedback for possible further development. IV therapy professionals that require a means of tracking and following the PICC lines that are inserted would benefit from this sort of application. This application is a custom application that is being considered for re-release in a shareware form for other IV professionals to use. If you’d be interested in such an application, then demo this version and please write to support@gack-apps.com with suggestions, comments…what have you. Make sure that the features you would like to see get at least a consideration during the development cycle.
Security provided at application entrance by personalized PIN! For the purposes of our Demo, this is not able to be changed and is always: 123654
Pt's displays in a large easy to read table. To view or edit...merely tap the entry! To add a new...tap New.
PICC details are quick and easy to enter or read for reference. The memo area is 4 lines long and will grow beyond this if you need it to. Scroll bars will appear at that time to scroll this area.
From here you may D/C a line/Pt, or add them to your Rounds List and also edit your Location drop down box.
Menu option to view D/C'd pt's/lines. In a similar manner as your current active lines.
Again, here you can view your data, handy if you have repeat pt's...and want to review their previous lines outcomes! Just locate them in this D/C'd database!
General Notes:
Palm OS 5.0 COMPATIBLE! This application is in its initial public release state. It has been tested on Visor Prism and POSE (Palm OS Emulator) both running Palm OS v 3.0 and 4.1 and runs w/o any noticeable bugs as of yet. The author makes no guarantee that this application will be backward compatible beyond v3.5 Palm OS however, obviously this application should be just fine with later/new versions of Palm OS. Try it before you buy it!

As this is a demo...I've not added any graphic or spiffy navigational buttons as you may have seen on some of my other apps. These will come as development plans are finalized! For those interested...I will make available CUSTOMIZED versions, that will display your company name, dept. name and Logo if you so chose on the Logon screen! You will obviously have to supply these though...I'm not much of a graphic artist :)

For printing, I recommend a printing server application for which the developer provides a working demo version so you can evaluate its effectiveness with this application. I recommend SCS Print Server by Stevens Creek Software. You can try it by browsing to www.stevenscreek.com and following the links on their page. To save you some time, a direct link to the download for PC users is HERE. For MAC users a link is HERE. Gack-Apps is not in ANY way affiliated with Stevens Creek Software...we have just used their product and can vouch for its compatibility and reliability. Setup is a breeze as well! Worth your while to check it out.

Revisions:
None yet. Initial release version Beta 1.0

Installation Notes:
To install the demo...you must extract the zip file you download here. Inside you will find two files. One is the Readme.txt file which has some useful information and should be read. The other is the IV-Rounds-Demo-Installer.PRC You only need to install this file onto your device as you normally would. After a HotSync(tm) you will see the installer in your UNFILED categorie. Tap its icon to install, after reading and agreeing to my wordy README that greets you :) This is a 30 day demo after which time it will cease to function, however it is not being offered to actually USE as I have yet to determine any implications that should be addressed concerning HIPAA. So use at YOUR OWN RISK. As with ANY software package...abuse potential is always there for those who see to try, and this author ASSUMES NO LIABILITY for its use or misuse, now or in the future. The responsibility of safeguarding electronic data ALWAYS lies with the user of this software!

What is Shareware?
What is Freeware?

Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software before buying it. If you try a Shareware prod continue using it after a reasonable evaluation period, you are expected to register. Individual programs differ on details. Some request registration while others require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue using the software to an updated program with printed magram annual.

Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a specific group. For example, some authors require written permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.

Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software. You should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook, whether it is commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you don't pay for it.

Some related terms

Freeware - copyrighted software that the author allows you to freely use and distribute without paying any registration fee. The author may still place conditions on use of the software.

Demoware - the shareware concept has become so popular with the growth of the Internet that many of the large commercial software publishers are releasing "trial" versions of their products for download and personal use. These "trial" versions are usually limited in some fashion (such as they only work for a specified length of time, or some features are disabled).

Crippleware - shareware or demoware that is functional enough for you to evaluate most features, but disabled in a significant way to entice you to register or buy the full version.

Nagware - shareware or demoware that frequently displays screens to remind you to purchase the fully registered version. Apart from the extra key strokes required to cancel the reminder screen, it is usually fully functional.
