IV-Tx Pro: Infusion Therapy Informatics System v1.7
Our flagship commercial application. The premier software solution for infusion therapy departments data collection and outcome monitoring needs! Components include Palm OS © software (shown below) and Windows © PC software. Complications calculated and reported in industry standard terms of per 1000 catheter days, all with a few clicks of your mouse! Gone are the days of tedious, time consuming and error prone paper based systems that have traditionally plagued your data collection attempts!
System Details:
Comprised of three software components:
- IV-Tx Pro Desktop:
Windows
PC component. Desktop system allows for data entry/analysis and complication reporting. Many useful secondary reports also produced herein with new reports being added regularly.
- IV-Tx for Palm OS©:
Software component that runs on Palm OS© handheld devices. Primary function is to allow remote and on the spot data recall and entry. Record consults for various IV related tasks, and review previous consults and outcomes (ie: Previous PICC) while on the floor and away from the main PC!
- Palm OS© Conduit:
Custom conduit allows for synching the data entered and updated on the handheld devices with that of the main database on the PC.
Desktop System:
The hub of the data analysis and report generation features resides here. Many reports are date specific, simply specify the date range and click the button pertaining to the report it is you wish to generate. Within a few seconds, the database is querried and a report is produced and displayed for your review.
Reporting Examples:
- Complications:
- Differentiate between IV Team lines, MD lines, Interventional Radiology lines, and pre-existing lines!
- Reported in terms of per 1000 catheter days as well as raw counts.
- Can be reported catheter and manufacturer specific as well...allowing the ability to determine if one particular catheter has higher or lower complication rates associated with it. Also helpful in your catheter evaluation process...prior to your decision making on whether or not to adopt a new catheter.
- By Floor:
- Bar chart reflecting the total number of consults (service requests) by originating floor.
- By Custom:
- Bar chart reflecting the total number of consults (service requests) by a completely user defined value. Extends the versatility of the system and allowing you to decide what information is collected here.
- Not DC'd:
- Report containing the insertion related information and location of all lines in your facility. Very helpful in printing and distributing to staff to allow them the ability to "round" on or assess lines as they travel about the facility.
- Organisms:
- Reports consists of a pie chart displaying the organisms indicated as responsible for positive line cultures.
- Weekday:
- A simple bar chart report reflecting the average number of calls received on the corresponding day of the week.
- Catheter Dwell Time
- By Line Type: Allows you to view average dwell time (time before line was DC'd) amongst the various line types.
- By Floor: In a similar fashion...displays average dwell time by floor of insertion.
- Individual Staff Success Rate:
- Simple report that calculates the selected staff members success rate on PICC and Midline insertions.
- Individual Staff Detailed Report:
- More complex report. Displays the total number of consults responded to my the staff member, and individual numbers for PICC, Midline and PIV consults. Included are the average times to complete the consults as well. This requires correct use of the time stamping features of the system however.
- Department Wide Success Rate:
- As with the individual report, this one is just extended to include all team members.
- Useful to demonstrate changes in success...such as demonstrating the benefits of adopting new technologies including ultrasound and catheter tip location systems...etc.
- Department Wide Detailed Report:
- As with the individual report...a more complete analysis, but extended to include all team members.
- Activity By Floor:
- Report that is broken up into sections "by floor" (originating floor of the consult) and shows the total number of the various consults recorded for that particular floor.
Other Features:
- Strong encryption of patient specific database fields.
- Individual user logins
- System administrator features
- Complete data entry, no longer REQUIRES handhelds to collect data
- Tried and true database format (MS Access™).
- Database is also password protected to deter openning outside of the main application.
System Requirements:
- PC running Microsoft Windows 2000 or newer.
- May run on earlier versions, just not tested.
- Not tested on Vista.
- .NET Framework v2.0 (included on CD)
- JET 4.0 database connectivity (included on CD)

Palm OS System:
This component of the IV-Tx Informatics System allows compact portable data collection and retrieval! Using inexpensive PDA's running Palm OS © v5 or higher, you can now take your data with you in the field for easy recall on the spot no matter where you are and input new data (record consults or services performed) while out and about in your facility without the need of making hand written notes and then at a later date, returning to your PC to input the data into your PC database. Simply perform a HotSync™ and the information on the PDA will be synchronized with that of the main PC database.

Depending on the consult being recorded, there may be additional "DETAILS" to be recorded. To access the specific details screen for a particular consult, you tap the "DETAILS" button on the basic consult details screen. In the example shown here, we have a PICC insertion. As such our DETAILS include PICC insertion specific info such as Lot#, inserted length, total length...etc. |
|
You can search the database for consults by either entering the patients medical record number or their last name. You can optionally refine your search to include ALL consults (include such things as PIV insertions even) or limit it to CURRENT PICC/Midline insertions, or PAST (previously done) PICC/Midline insertions. |
